Default New 3.0 litre V6 diesel for Vectra / Signum

Just been reading about a new 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine for the Vectra-D and Signum. It is being made by VM in Italy and is a twin cam 60 degree common rail type but with a CGI cast iron block. It will produce 225 bhp and 500Nm of torque.

VM is 51% owned by Roger Penske, an American man well known for his racing cars and engines and 49% by Daimler-Chrysler.

The new 2.0 litre 150 bhp diesel being fitted in the new Vx Antara is also a VM design but made under licence in Korea. No plans at present for this to replace the 1.9 engine.

Thats more like it . Should tune up nicely to 255/260 bhp . See a few VXR's off that!

Maybe the Vectra D will have a VXR D in its model range?

Sounds good except for one thing. Everyone I've heard talking about other VM units have seemed to say one thing. They're not good (cheap and nasty are words that spring to mind). Weather this is true or not I don't know except all the ones I 've experienced in Jeeps etc at work, have been very noisy and every one has been unreliable.

I do hope they have changed!

The 2.0 CDTi will appear in Astra H and Zafira, Antara gets it first though, doubtfull about Vectra C though but it would not suprise me if Vectra C gets the 2.0 CDTi as there is still 2 years left on it to run.

The 2.0 CDTi is only a stroked version of the 1.9 CDTi apparently.
