    Default How to change a thermostat 2.2

    This is my 1st post and was wondering if its easy to change a thermostat on a sri 2.2 petrol?

    Iv heard its fairly easy but dont want to get half way through and get stuck

    Hi vx and welcome to the site.
    straight forward job drain system, remove lower radiator hose,remove the 2 bolts from housing and you are there.
    make sure you have a new seal ring (Just in case )when you fit seal ring coat it with a little silicone grease.tighten bolts to 8Nm. (don't be tempted to over tighten,refill cooling system job done.

    Thanks for the reply, how much fluid will i need to replace it with and will i need to worry about any airlocks?

    7.1lt without A/C .
    7.4lt with A/C.
    7.6lt with A/C and autobox.
    use antifreeze 1940650/09194431,make sure you add a 50/50 mix .
    system is self bleeding,fill system run at a fast tick over 2000/2300rpm for about 30 seconds then let tick over untill fan cuts in,allow to cool and top up coolant to KALT/COLD (don't remove coolant cap untill cool it HURTS he he)
