Unhappy Lost service book - help?

The dealer I bought my car from has lost my service book in the post. It was the original service book with the car which is only two years old. He kept it to have it stamped by the garage that first serviced the car then was to post it to me. He says he posted it and of course it has not arrived, I have had my second service and want to maintain my history. Any ideas, can I get a replacement service book, if so how?

If you know where it was first serviced then the garage who carried it out will normally stamp it again for you.

As the dealer lost it, surely its upto them to get you a new one! Although mine was missing and i got one from e-bay and then the dealer stamped it for me
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Another rule broken, always get the service book with the car and never trust someone to post it. I cannot believe how many times I have come across a dealer saying it has full service history and for some reason do not have the service book! Pack of liars to be honest.
A friend of mine is still chasing a service book 3 months after buying the car.

Have you seen the Service book when you purchased the car?
Was it a VX dealer? If it was get them to get you a new one and sort it out asap.

To be honest how often do things get lost in the post? Strangely ever Xmas card I send out gets received every year and all the work stuff as well. Take it with a pinch of Salt that there was a service book in the first place
Lois Griffin: Peter! You're bribing your daughter with a car?
Peter Griffin: Ah, c'mon, Lois, isn't 'bribe' just another word for 'love'?

Agreed, the sender should take the matter up with Royal Mail
However, you need to allow 28 days

Once the 28 days has passed, advise the dealership the Service Book has still arrived and you want a replacement with ALL the correct details

The dealer is just a guy selling from his house although he is official, just very small and independent. The first service was by a local garage, I saw the service book and it was correct but missing the stamp, so I agreed for him to sort it out and post it on.

Its still his problem as the contract with the RM is between the sender and them not with you.

Sounds like he just hasn't bothered and is blaming the RM. Really he should have sent it recorded.

When I say dealer I should have said car trader, would be quite something to have a Vauxhall dealership in normal house, mind you the service might not be any worse.
