    Default squeaking noise from the rear of the car

    i have just fitted new shocks to the rear because the car made a squeaking noise thats doing my head in......took it for a test drive and it the same..it is from the rear drivers side.when i sit in the boot and bounce you can hear it squeaking.it i coming from behind the rear wheel but i cannot see what.i have used wd40 on every thing but still the same.....

    can you help.....................

    Are the shocks like-for-like replacments?
    Take a look at both rear springs, especially the opposite side from the failed shock, it has probably snapped at either the base or top

    yes like-for-like replacments, i will have another look at the springs but they looked ok.the squeaking was there before the new shocks anyway.

    A failed shock can be recognised by lifting each side of the car up, but use clean gloves so as not to mark the delicate body and paint work in this area
    That was how mine was traced, as on lifting the nearside and then dropping, the shock could be heard squeeking
    Repeating the process on the offside, and no noise

    The springs aren't so easy
    You need to lift each side of the car up, so that the spring is not under load, and can be inspected from under the vehicle
    Alternatively it can be done on a ramp

    i have checked the spring all ok...i have spraded ALL the joints with wd40 still the same.....
    what else can i do..?

    My rear spring was doing the same noise,but I have my rubber spring seats removed

    Sprayed the springs with wd40 and turned them and its gone

    so you took the rubber out the top and bottom turned the spring the other way up ...and it worked?did you leave the rubbers out then..?
