    Default Possible Thermostat?

Hiya guys wonder if anyone can throw some light onto this please?

Mum came back from work this afternoon and said the blowers hadn't got hot all day, luke warm at best. Temp guage appears to be working fine and coolant is on max.

However, we have had to top it up a couple of times recently so wondering if this could be thermostat or something more sinister like the pump? Is there anyway to check before spending out on parts labour?

Is the 'stat cheap/easy to replace, if so might just give that a whirl anyway

    Many thanks

    Stu

Knowing what engine would be good

Temp gauge as normal but no hot doesn't sound like the thermostat to me.

D'oh! Yeah kind of would wouldn't it lol! It's a 2005 '05 reg' 1.9 SRi CDTi. We don't think it't the thermo but more something to do with the heating system itself. How is the termperature controlled?

Must be an electronic valve somewhere as it doesn't feel cable operated via the knob? If so will it be accessable? Most of my water blending system for the heat/cool cabin air on my MG is situated under a scuttle panel in front of the wiper arms

Feel i best post up the results, seems i was being rather n00bish and actually managed to dig out a thread based on the heater query...

    This one http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...=heater&page=2

Took glove box out and the damn thing started working, but oiled it up anyway and fingers crossed is all fixed but if it goes again will know where to look

Much appreciated to the folk on here! - Vauxhall wanted to have it in to "investiagte" which lord knows what they will have charged for labour and so called "new parts". Other local garage wanted to do some test on the engine to find a possible cause?

20 mins on here, 10 mins in the car tinkering and fixed
