    Default crankshaft sensor

    I have a 2004 vectra 1.8 ls.

I am having problems and the code for the crankshaft sensor is coming up.

I cannot find where exactly the sensor is, how to change it and the part number.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have been looking all day at trying to find out how to get this sorted.

I have got it down to this so far:

The part number is 9115115, just bought one of Ebay (new gm part) Vauxhall Parts Warehouse, £21.05 inc. postage.

I think it is located under the oil filter.

Now I just need to wait for the new part to come, try and change it and see if it fixes the problem!

Does anybody have any experience of changing the crankshaft sensor that could give me any pointers?

i changed it on my inlaws vec 1.8. only held in with 1 bolt. 10mm if i remember correctly might have been 8mm. i just jacked up the ns/f and was able to get access liein on my back no probs. came out no probs but the new one was more of a pain to get in as the little rubber seal was new and tight. but with little struggle it went home no bother.

Does the engine "reset" itself quickly once the new sensor is in?

The sensor only went yesterday and the car went into limp mode and was very ropey when starting it up.

The EML light came on, but has gone off now. The other exhaust emissions light has stayed on though.

Also, is there any chance of oil or anything coming out of the sensor hole? I don't fancy getting a face full if I am under the car!

I was really worried at first, but I am getting a bit of confidence back that everything will be ok when I fit this new sensor.

lol, never had any oil hit me in the face i had the same worry as well but not a drop came out. and the second the car was started after the new sensor was fitted all faults cleared and it ran sweet as a nut straight away

Thanks, that has made me feel a bit better.

Only got the car Friday and it was driving lovely, until yesterday afternoon.

Found this site through other little niggles I wanted to sort out, and it has been a godsend so far.

Got my sensor today, changed it and car back to normal!

What I have noticed is the car seems to heat up to 90c quite quickly, fan comes on, goes to 80c, does this quite regular? Not sure if this is normal running or if there is another problem lurking?
