    Hi guys,

I know my car isnt a VXR, but the full suspension set up is the VXR IDS system from factory.

In brief, cars done 80,000 miles, its been lowered on Eibachs for 6000 miles now. Started getting noisey and rattly about 500 miles ago, thus far ive changed drop links and front anti roll bar bushes.

Ive had wheels of, double checked brake calipers, body rim, track rod ends etc everything. All looks and feels to be in great condition!

However, yesterday, its now change to a proper knock, its muffled, and does it over bumps, and you can feel it through your feet now. Defo summit moving. Granted, it does it less with sport mode on, and the shocks stiffen.

If just got in now, jacked up car and had a good old shake of the front wheels top to bottom and side to side... all feels fine. I then put a bar under wheel and tried to bump suspension up and down... you can feel or hear movement at top of strut in top of wheel arch.

While doing this i felt drop links, track rod ends etc, nothing down there is transmitting this noise, but in the top of the strutt theres noise.

Pulled back the rubber cover in strutt.. all dry, and no leaks.

So, please help? Any ideas? Would top mount bearings make this noise? I cant see how they can in my mind as they just plastic rings... can they knock?

Or... worst still, does this sound like a simpton of the shocK? Ive also noticed road noise is louder too... summit a miss!

Any ideas please would be massively appreciated? Im chasing my tail at the min!

    Thanks

    Mike

    Cheers chaps..... Drum roll!!!!!!

CURED IT! Best way to explain...list.

    1. Rattle starts. Change arb bushes and drop links.

Now this concerned me! I have a VXR roll bar as standard, the bushes are completely different to any other! They are in two pieces and have a steel rim. The vx supplied
Part was all rubber and didn't close fully around the bar, but I ran with it as you can buy vxr arb bushes on their own, they come with the bar.

    2. Car drives much better, less noise but still rattle.

    3. Still bugging me so took shocks appart, greased bearings.

    4. Still noisey, handily getting alot worse.

    5. Poking around under bonnet, water bottle loose...'could it be so simple?

    6. Test drive..... Rattle gone.

7 few hundred miles, handling ****e, bad knock

    8. Had it all appart today, arbs loose as ****! So fitted VXR ones on and a
Brand new top mount bearing on drivers side.

Result.... Perfect! Tight handling, no knock nothing.. Less road noise as good as when I got her! Test drove over 50miles enjoyed so much!!

Just going to fit bearing on passenger side next week as only had one. That's it. So never anything wrong with arbs in first place... ****** water bottle and top mounts!
