    Default AA breakdown and warranty

Just had the missus take out cover for her Astra, the breakdown cover was £19 for the year, and then they went on to offer a new rolling scheme for full mechanical breakdown, everything apart from consumables is now covered (pending the booklet in the post I scrutinised the discussion and it seems very good indeed) for £11 per month, as this is not an annual thing you only keep it as long as you need it on the car and I think it a decent price for mechnical piece of mind,,,,,, like DMF cover,,,,, like timing belt or inlet manifold cover for us 1.9 CDTi drivers,,,,,,,,,,

I have warranty till Oct 16 2013 but this seems a nice wee bit of news from the good old AA.

I will report on any specific exclusions once the handbook arrives

As mentioned previously, this is the policy I had once my VX warranty ran out
Just watch the claim limit, I doubt it will cover the entire costs of a DMF
Also, there are a maximum number of claims

Also, it's a pain having to call out the AA to look at the car for a known fault rather than trust one of their authorised garages...

I got sent out the renewal pack, phoned them up, "Can I renew?"
    Yes
Went through all the details, then read out the cars mileage
    "Oh no, that's too high"
Well, like doh, check your records, you sent out the documents knowing how high the mileage was!

Back to AutoNational rescue now, no mileage limits

It will mainly be cover for the wife's Astra 1.6 I have E.H. warranty on the Vectra for another 19 months and by that time I will I suspect be ready to move her on,,,

Thanks for the feedback I am very glad it is as it seemsto be and if it helps in the Astra's case it will be money well spent IMHO

My mate had this on his astra, said it was good but if i remember ccorrectly, theres a £500 limit on claims? A DMF clutch is nearer £1k (Mine was £1400).

On top of that i know from personal experience that they wont put genuine parts on. I had to wait four days for them to price up the parts using recon ones etc. I ended up spending out of my own pocket to get vx ones on my clutch etc.

Thankfully I don't think the wee Astra 1.6 has a DMF but once I read through the paperwork I will report on claim values and single claim limits etc.
