    Default iridium plugs for 1.8?

    It's my birthday this week (36 since you ask) and I'm thinking of asking my Mrs to get my some iridium plugs for my z18xe.
    I changed my plugs recently and since the old ones were very old I was really impressed with difference. (just Bosch platinum ones)
    So what I want to know is has anyone upgraded to iridium plugs from relatively new plugs? I read a lot of reports saying what a difference they made but I'm guessing they were changing from old plugs, and so the difference might just be due to new plugs.
    Am I gonna notice a big difference since my plugs are in good condition already?

    Our car is a 55 reg Facelift Club Spec C with the Z18XE engine...

    The picture I posted below, in this thread, shows the plugs - removed - fitted from new - GM/ Bosch.....which look in pretty good shape to me....(Using Supermarket standard unleaded petrol - Mainly Morrison's & Sainbury's)

    As explained..I used NGK equivalents for the GM/Bosch that were fitted from new...because we stocked NGK plugs at the a Motor Factors where I work part time...Had we stocked another make..I would have used their equivalents....

    Can't say I've noticed a significant difference.....

    yes, I noticed a big difference last time but my old plugs were knackered and black cos my engine had been overfueling a while due to temp sensor/thermostat problems, so that was why probably.
    This is why I suspect iridium plugs might not make much difference this time. Gonna get em anyway, its my birthday why not? I'll report back on how they compare to normal ones.

    How did they compare in the end??. I know this is an old thread now, but I'm looking at whether it's worth geting the Iridium IX plugs?

    iridium plugs could i recomend them hell yes i bought denso iridium ik20 for mine and their grrrrreat hook them up with a nice k&n panel filter and you will smile

    is that due to mpg or performance? whats the interval on them? the vx ones are 8 years/80k??!? (wonders if my 2.2 needs them at 32k)

    Someone posted up that their 2.2 was on the original plugs at 88k. I did ask them to post pictures and report back about fuel consumption after fitting new ones, I dont think they ever did. 80K plugs changes ffs

    I know, lol, 80k, that's ridiculously high. Always thought it was about the 30-40k mark. So no point putting fancy ones in after 30k odd really then is there?

    TBH for the cost of normal spark plugs I see no issue in replacing them yearly.

    Just need to get part numbers now... and see if they were changed at the major service 5 weeks ago.
