All I can say is O M F G! I never realised it could go so obsessive, OCD Central. But, I'm getting suckered in......
One thing I have noticed is though, all the 'good' products that people seem to use are not available 'off the shelf'

I've been mooching about on there mate, now I've got 3 different polishes and 3 different waxes. ffs.
You want to see all the detailing kit I have now after being a member on there for several years.
I too have been a member there for five of six years and have two shelves in the garage full of different non-high street polishes
Jeez this sounds like a confession!!!!!
Good morning all I'm Derek and i'm an OCD Obcessive Compulsive Detailer
Being a regular contributor to D W i can understand your confusion the best bet for you is to take your time and read all the different guides first before rushing in and buying products just because the reviews are positive
As for product purchase there are a couple of company,s based here in the south east . the most prominent of which is Elite car care based in maidenhead or I4 detailing based a little closer to you near East grinstead both of these accept personal calls for collection s .
Driving vauxhall,s for 30 + years
and still loving it
Very wise words,
I read loads there and then finally met David G of Carwashandwax a wonderful Glasgow based detailing company and am now a firm fan of Chemical Guys products, I enjoy the feedback and the way they seek to save me spending needlessly on products so have literally a shelf full of waxes cleaners and materials, balanced with Autosmart products it makes a good reliable base to fuel my own mild OCD
This thread went viral at the time.

Allow a couple of days to read it though!
I have stopped going on there as I will end up with a million and 1 products. All I need is ultimate compound, polish, glaze and a wax (Which I now have 3 of which will last for ages).
With products I have I can acheive an awesome finish. The only extra thing I will get is a quick detailer for the summer months.
