Default Colour coded my v grille, opinions welcome :)

Well, finally done it. I got hold of a spare v grille and have colour coded it. It was originally chrome, so sanded it using very rough sandpaper to give it a key for the primer, primed & flattened with 1200 wet & dry until perfectly smooth, then used a pre-mixed rattle can for the colour, and rattle can lacquer. A final smooth down with 1200 wet & dry, polish up with 3m polishing compound, then a finer cheap compound, liquid polish and then a final wax. Finish is fantastic if I do say so myself
Fitting was a nightmare, the grille didn't seem to fit flush, and with breaking most of the clips when removing the original grille, this is fixed with 4 screws on top which you can't see when the bonnet is down, but is perfectly secure. Opinions welcome Next up is an xp splitter if I can find one, would like an original one so fitting 'should' be spot on.

Cheers wish the old grille wasn't such a b*****d to get off, even with the bumper off I found it a nightmare, worth the effort though

you polished and waxed it straight after it had finished drying? should of left it at least 2 weeks so it could breath and harden up, as now it will be soft and chip easily
