Default Just Bought A Used Car

Here's why not to assume the dealer you bought from serviced your new car properly. All this is after 7k btw

    Pollen filter

    Oil filter

What a new one looks like for comparison

Gratis leak, still cant expect a mechanic to notice that can ya.

And the remedy, new pollen filter was already fitted by the time I went to press

I couldn't really go back, I wanted to service it anyway, but if I go and say oh look at this they will invalidate the warrenty because they will reckon I shouldn't touch it and might have damaged it, gonna wait until the next proper book service is due and see what they tell me when I get it back,I can still remember the look I got when I changed a set of plugs on the V6 Omega I had some yrs ago, absolute disbelief that someone who isn't a mechanic could do them, and the shame that their guy chose to say he'd changed em at the interval, when you could clearly see he hadn't.

Put the old filters in when you return it for a service... and mark the parts.

Am I the only one who writes on the oil filter and the air filter the milage and date?

I've found tippexing the numbers on the wheel bolts is enough to scare them in to doing a good service as they think all the parts are marked.

theres 1 sure way of getting a good service get hold of a trading standards buisness card and leave it so that it can be seen when they service your car.

I always think that could cause more problems myself, if the mechanic who gets the car is a proud guy he might get the hump about ppl trying to catch him out, there's an old thing that i wont post here that I know used to go on in garages to knacker an engines if the mechanic didn't like the customer, and it's so simple and virtually undetectable at the time until it starts to go knock knock knock, and by that time the garage has the reasonable doubt shout.

That was for Kitch's post btw.

I have never let anyone else service my car. Heard far too many horror stories to have confidence in anyone else. At least I know was has actually been done and with what parts.
