    Default white smoke n powerloss

    hi,hope someone can help me out

    when i start the car i get a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust tailpipe and sometimes when driving there is powerloss in driving

    Also the warning car with a big spaner is on dash for 30 secs or so after starting engine.

    any ideas ? it could be ta

    Sorry fella, white smoke usually means the bearings in the turbo have gone !

    It could be a split inter cooler hose but usually that causes black smoke. You say you are losing power so I would first check the hoses. They tend to split easily on the 2.0 and 2.2dti. Check by giving them a squeeze and look for cracks.

    Other posibilties could be the boost sensor needing a clean.

    Finally check your vacuum pipes for nicks and splits. The rubber connectors tend to go on the corners. Click on the DTI link in my signature to see about replacing them if needs be.

    this is true. It may be the glow plugs. definatly worht a check. This doesnt explain the power loss though so still check your hoses and pipes as well.
