Not done that one, but generally, if the section doesn't have a gasket, I use exhaust jointing compound or gun gum putty from any car parts shop.
Thanks.I did think of gun gum but wondered if there was a newer & better jointing compound to use when the sections sleeve together.

There's also Fire Putty, that's what I used for a home made sleeve and it worked perfectly, but that was further to the rear so less heat.
I think you have to weld that joint mate as it takes the slack up from the engine that moves to the exhaust that does not so gets a lot of stick
I think the op is relplacing the whole section and not just the flexi on it's own.
Any exhaust jointing paste will be fine mate, general rule is before the cat use gaskets and after the cat use paste
Jointing compound should not be used before the cat
Use silicon as it wont go brittle and blow out.
Maybe 'Dobs' is using one of the repair kits for the flexi section? I was surprised to see hundreds of these in all shapes and sizes on ebay.
