EML light

hi, ive got a vectra c 07 cdti sri. the engine managment light comes on when i turn the ignition on but goes out when the car is started. i have read somewer after 30 engine starts it should go out. im sure i started it more than 30 times now becuase its been over a week but the light is still on. do i have to do it 30 consecutive times?

Could be a fault like the glow plugs that it sees each time the car is started but goes when its running

ive got the same motor and same occurence. Have done 5000 miles already and no problems, so id just ignore it mate.

Is it not meant to come on with the ignition, and go out when you start?

Or does it stay on for a bit before going out?

i think its only a problem if it doesnt go out once the engine's started (obviously).

It used to come on when d ignition was turned on an then usually goes out, but last week or so it's stayin on unless startd

The missus has a 55 reg CDTI SRi 150. Just been out to check hers. EML light stays on with ignition, and goes out on startup. Hooked up my code reader and nothing stored. Car starts and drives fine, and good economy too

You shouldnt see it unless there is a stored fault.

The car needs to go through a certain amount of 'driving cycles' before its sure the fault has been cleared.

A driving cycle might include driving at a certain speed for a set time in each gear.

Your better off getting the code cleared if you dont want to see it all the time. Either a Tech2 session or someone with another code reader like Op-com etc.


Tony go back outside and just do clear codes anyway as pending codes are stored but sometimes dont show up on all code readers (I know Op-Com doest see pending codes)
