    Default Satnav Idea....

I have a tomtom 300 which I want to hardwire into the car, I was thinking about removing one of the centre heater vents and modifying it to fit the screen and (hopefully) look nice and tidy.

Hss anyone done this before? do you know if there is enough room behind the vent to take the quite bulky unit? will blocking one vent cause any problems?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

This thread is the closest I could find. The last post mentioned about somebody actually doing it, but no links.

Am in the process if doing this at the moment. Not using a tom tom but using tom tom software on my old touchscreen sony ericsson p800.

Am going to remove the screen and fit it behind the right centre air vent, the rest of the phone will then fit into the void behind it.

Because I have a bluetooth parrot kit in the car, the phone wil then become a fully integrated hands free car kit with voice dialing and answering as well. No buttons neaded cos the phone is fully touchscreen.

You can block of air vent with no probs. Have not really started it yet just getting software sorted. My main problem is trying to get the memory card sorted as it keeps telling me the card is "corrupt" even the new one ive just bought.

As you can see the screen is a good size for a air vent install, but the whole phone is to big, looks like im getting the old soldering iron out!

Here you go bigdan, hpe these pics help,

The vent just clips off in one piece.

    To leave this.

Quite a bit of room behind there exept for room upwards.
