    Default Light switch

I noticed this morning that the Light switch block on the right of the steering wheel was not illunminated like the rest of the switchs, I presumed that the bulb has gone, so I removed the Light switch block. But there was no obvious bulb there that can be removed, unlike on the Vectra B where the bulb can easily be seen, Does anyone have any idea where the bulb is and how to get to it and make the switch light up again, any help would be appreciated, cheers.

There's no bulb inside Ed - it's those little LEDs (SMDs) on a circuit board. They shouldn't normally blow - and highly unlikely that they've all gone in one go (there's one for each knob/button). I'd say either a fuse (any other internal lighting not working?) or maybe just a loose connection. Pop out the headlight switch as in here, and make sure it's all connected properly.

If it's neither of those then I'm not sure!

If something has gone in the switch - SMDs or anything else then yes, it will be under warranty. They'll just replace the whole unit.

Would you belive it I have found out why the lights were not illuminated on the switch block...... Did you know they only come on when the ignition is on, but the door switches and the center console are on all the time the side/head lights are on????

Well, there you go! Something I'd never really noticed before! Exactly as you said Ed.

The buttons around the light knob come on with the lights, but the graphic on the dial itself and the ones above it (off, sidelights, headlights) come on with the ignition. I can understand why as well. If it's getting dark and want to turn on your lights - you want to be able to see where the dial is!

The more you get to know these motors, the more fascinating they become, I wonder what the next thing is that they will reveal.
