    Default Redline-Regal Re-map

As some of you know I was not very happy after my Redline Rolling Road.
After my vist back to Regal today I feel a lot better, but a little confused.

Scan 1 = Car as totally standard

Scan 2 = Car 1yr latter after Airbox Mod / K&N filter / Duel exhaust / Re-map / Full service/ as you can see my figures have gone down. At the time I just could not believe it , the car was driving much better pulling harder and just plain faster. Yet the figures tell me that every mod and my own feeling about the way the car now drives are wrong.

Scan 3 and 4 at Regal. As you can see figures are much more in-line with what you should expect from the work/money I have spent. And more to the point, much more in-line with how I believe the car is now driving.

So why and which is right.
    Regal gave me some explanations/possible
    1. They did not take the ABS off at Redline before run (done by taking the car up to 60mph and letting it slow to standstill before the power run
    2. Car got to hot before run (car was left on tick over for a full half hour before rollers) resulting in the ECU backing off to protect the engine
    3. The best gear is 4th not 3rd as it is a better load bearer
    4. They are idiots their road is rubbish, they donít know what they are doing , they donít know Vauxhalls.

    Me I have no idea.

I do know that the guy at Redline thinks he knows it all and everyone else does crap maps and is a bit short and rude with people and very eager to get it all over and done with and sell his own live maps.
I also know that most other people got the figures around about what they expected.

I do know that the Owner at Regal Chris is very rude and finds it hard to listen (but did the RR for free)
I also think that if you set up a RR to make my car look good a figure closer to 170bhp would be a better target to make.
164bhp is not fantastic but kinda right for my car, the RR was only opened when I got there. I was with the guy the whole time and he knew nothing of my car or what I had had done. I know this because we went over it all after the Run so he could add it to the printout.

Most off all I believe the way the car drives after the re-map 164bhp and 148.4 lbft is just right in my book.

number 2 does sound feasible John ..
I didn't realise it was left that long ..my fault for letting someone queue jump...

All the dips do appeare to be in the same place on all those graphs ....so making number 2 the favourite.

Mate, that's good news surely! I would think that your latest RR will be on the money, think the last one was a case of he dint know lol like you say.

Overall its what you wanted and feels better, you know its improved it and thats what counts I suppose. Your hard work hasnt gone to waste! Surely the map must have made it better!

Leaves me confused tho all those graphs lol!

Nah it was all Deans fault, I remember him saying to me better get your car nicely warmed up John
Just one off those things Ian, he tells me that the ECU on this car is very sensitive to high temperatures (let that be a lesson, to anyone else RR a 1.8vvt)

i dont mean to rain on your parade but a mappers rr will all ways give you better figures than an independent as the mapper will not want to show up their map, i would say my figures were pretty much spot on - if not then is my car really running 300bhp?

Nope I have no idea about your car m8, it could be 80bhp for all I know.
But I do know my own car and and knew that the figures from Redline did not add up.

Theres 101 ways to fudge/make a mistake with rolling road figures. So long as the car is pulling & driving better thats all that really matters. There was actually an interesting article in this months Track and Driver magazine written by Dave Walker about the pitfalls of rolling roads.
