    Default Cabin Filter

How long should a cabin / pollen filter last? Changed the one in my signum last month - went to spray some WD40 to kill the cricket living in my blower motor and the pollen filter is black!

Good thing is its doing its job but at this rate its going to cost a bomb in cabin and air filters!

shouldn't be shot that quick, depends on the driving but about 10,000 miles and mine is normally done.
Diesel? maybe this points to a problem

No smell or anything - pulls ok for a 120 - mpg crap around town but ace on a run!

Does it pull in air from the engine?

Vauxhall recommend changing them every 12,000 miles, but if you live in an area with a lot of particulate pollution (eg city centres, industrial area, quarries etc) then they could have a shorter life than that.

The air is pulled from the scuttle area - ie behind the bulkhead, so it's just air that's sucked in at the base of the windscreen (mainly the driver's side where the holes are). Not engine bay air.

I think I need to actually remove my blower motor completely to have a proper go at the squeaky bearings, as it's still a bit squeaky despite copious quantities of WD40 and 3-in-1 in the top bearing. I suspect it's actually the bottom bearing that's noisy. Ah well, glove box off again I guess...
