Timing chain 2.2 dti

2.2 DTI 98000 MILES AND CHAIN SNAPPED TODAY WRECKED THE ENGINE ITS ALWAYS WELL SERVICED EVERY 3000 MILES SO JUST A HEADS UP FOR THOSE WITH A DTI JOHN ROBERTSON WATCH WOT YOUR DOING MATE MINE WENT WITH NO NOISE WOTSOEVER NO WARNINGS ABSOLUTELY GUTTED BIG TIME

Gutted for you. Was the chain dry? Was it not geting lubricated? I saw a whole 2.2dti engine for £500 on eBay and £60 delivered on a pallet.

sorry to hear this mines on 50k will think about changing at about 75k then i think.

..how did it fail then ? .....how has it wrecked the engine ? it will have only broke the slapper fingers ...and the chain ....was it the single or double chain that has broke ? ...this is one of the first ive hurd break ...i know the cam bolts come loose due to them not beeing replaced when any work beeing done in that area ..... the bad thing is it aint easy or nice to replace a chain on a 2.0 or 2.2 diesel so a replacement lump is req'd ...remeber to swop the pump and injectors from your old lump into the new one ....

Mmmm this is the second 2.2dti that i've heard of the chain failing. Thing it's maybe just bad luck mate. As benny said whats actually happened?

I plan to have my car stripped down this year so may fire a new chain on it then. I'm still living with the theory that if it breaks then it breaks
