    Default A few little niggles

Hi all just a few little niggles to get my head round

    1. Ok then my fuel gauge was just onto the red no light on I normally drive the car quite enthusiastic and gauge drops when I really floor it which is fine but yesterday I drove very very carefully and averaged 51mpg according to computer but my fuel gauge Rose up by about 2 needle widened donut was above the red. Am I right in thinking that the fuel gauge is a calculated figure bases on what's left in te tank or is there something wrong.

    2. When starting from cold the car sounds a bit rough and clankity there is no smoke emitted at all and it's not the dmf as that was replaced last year any ideas car has 83000 miles on was serviced 11000 miles ago needs a service now but it will have to wait as getting cambelt and water pump done on thur

    3. When booting it. It feels like a rocket most of the time but sometimes on occasions it does not feel any where near as quick any ideas no fault lights or stored codes at all thanks

    Hi Winnie

    1. Settlement causing the gauge to improve? I think it is static from sender not based on the OBC
    2. Sounds like her time of the month mate did the noise die away could it be lifter chatter?
    3. Could it be overboost protection calming things down a touch?

Found the problem to number 3 my vacuum pipe that i replaced are far too big and the vacuum pump has tinwork over time to try and open the actuator so I replaced then all with tiny diameter pipes and adaptors to fit onto the connections and boy does she fly now so that's that problem solved.

The roughy idle I think I just a diesel general sound at 82000 miles lol I'm not worries she drives sweet and uses no oil etc and no smoke

But fuel gauge is still a wonder I have not filled up for over a week and it rises if I drive very carfully strange that only by a little though

Thanks again guys and how's things mally and Derek

It's def not clutch slip I know what that's like lol

    Winnie,

Had this car now for nearly 5K miles and it still amazes me how different this identical Vectra is to the last one, the engine sounds totally different seats felt different etc etc but overall the car is the same?
Using almost no oil myself economy has been down as I have not had a decent run till lately when I have had three return trips to Yorkshire and managed to get over 50mpg again on a cruise.

I still have the pcv blanked off I cleaned the boost sensor when I did the mod but not checked it since as in the last car for some reason after 3K miles it was wet again and I suspected the Turbo, so this time, part of me doesn't want to look!!

I have not done much in the way of mechanical mod's but possibly might think of a remap in the spring

    How's you doing??

The oil won't be from your turbo it will be left in all the pipes and intercooler and will take a while to dry out the only way to do it is to remove all boost pipes and intercooler and wash then all out but I'm just leaving mine and goin to try sone 10k de coke when I'm due a service in June

I would def recommend a remap Derek you will be amazed I have not once regretted getting mine and o love thenpower and economy I indrive it sesnilve lol

But I'm fine my oil breather is still going well no probs at all

Hi guys. I'm well, car good too. Went back to PD Tuning today to get the excess smoke mapped out. Feels better than ever out on the road, nice and smooth (which could be the 2 stroke in the tank.
