Default CDTI Not revving, rough but only when warm restarting?

    Hi.

    2005 CDTI 150

Had a problem for the last few months but now it's getting worse, initially I used to just get a hesitation for a few miles under light throttle when the car is restarted from warm, i.e. stopped to fill up.

Now when the car is restarted it starts fine, and idles OK, maybe a little rough but as soon as I touch the throttle it starts to run really rough and not rev above 1400 rpm, even with the throttle fully down, it also seems to smell very fumey and smoke. when it's doing this it doesn't even have enough power to pull away! eventually it will start to smooth out then once the turbo starts to spin (around 2000 rpm) it will then be back to normal, but still hesitate when applying light throttle.

I have no spanner or fault codes stored, I took apart the EGR and cleaned it, checked it for operation and it opens & closes fine, I also cleaned out the throttle housing (not sure if it should be called that! had a butterfly driven by a servo) this was completely sooted up and the butterfly was physically sticking shut but this hasn't sorted the problem.

Strange thing is that when started from cold it's fine, and as long as the car isn't stopped and restarted it drives perfect.

    Anybody have any ideas?

Remove it, get 2 lengths of wire, if you have the right size connectors add these to one end of each wire if not get someone to hold the wires onto the contacts of the egr (any way round), Then touch the other ends to live & earth of battery (short on off's), The valve will click open/shut, If not DONT keep trying it, Completely!! strip & clean as per how 2- WITH THE ELEC HALF DRILLED & PARTED clean well & use elec contact spray or wd 40 on the elec solenoid not grease.

Or blank it off. Then see how many issues it give you. Mine has been blanked for 10k, no problems, no rough running.

I would double check the EGR (do the complete strip as per 'how 2'), use elec contact spray or wd 40 on the solenoid, after you've cleaned the solenoid half it will keep rust at bay & aid contact!, as mentioned clean the boost sensor 'then' I would remove the throttle body AGAIN (it will pay to do this the gasket can be re used many times if you take care) work the flap by hand ALL the way when its in the shut position press it firmly! IF it sticks at all use a light oil or wd 40 & fine wet & dry to polish the barrel area where the flap sits in the closed area/position, When your happy it can NOT stick 100% do the throttle body repair to the solder joints! I inspected mine with a magnifying glass & the solder joints looked fine but after the re solder it ran 100% & has done ever since ( the how 2 guide for this is just dandy!'' get someone to hold a strong magnifying glass whilst you re solder its easier & you will get a better result. I presume your swirl bar is connected & the manifold is fine ?.
