Hi All,
Well, last saturday I went down to Leeds to meet Callum (vectraturbocal) and look at the Vectra SRi-T he had for sale.
When I got there the car had a few bits I wasn't happy with, needless to say we came to an agreement anyway and I brought the car home
I hoovered the car out and gave it a quick wash last sunday, then I used it until friday when I sent it into Vaxuhall with a good friend of mine who works there, I wanted the car fully checked for any underlying faults, I also wanted all of the fluids changed so they were all nice and fresh.
The car had already had new rear springs, a new ball joint, new ABS hub, new turbo and new water pump.
I wanted the Engine oil & filter, Gearbox oil, Clutch & brake fluid and cooolant replaced.
Everything bar the coolant was done as a small leak was found at the back of the engine, other faults found were as follows....
Aux belt very worn
Steering arm very worn
Leaking shock absorber
Not too bad I suppose, I've gave my mate the go ahead to order parts and fix the above faults, with his dicount on both parts and labour I cannot beat his prices.
The only thing I held back on was the shock absorber as even with his discount it comes to £100!
Insead I'm going to bite the bullet and bring forward some plans I had reserved for a later date, I can get a set of Bilstein B4's for £172 from LMF, so that's what I'm going to do
Hopefully all of these problems will be resolved this week and I can get back to keeping her clean and making her my own
I jetwashed my Irmscher mats this afternoon, I've also shampooed the interior carpet as it was pretty grubby, all has came up well but the white outer trim on the Irmscher mats (namely on the drivers side) is proving difficult to clean, it's stained with what appears to be oil or grease (Callum is an HGV mechanic so probably something off his work boots)
If I can't find a product to remove this then I'll be dying the outer trims black, they should still look pretty smart
I've got Irmscher door pins and pedals to fit, going to repaint the Irmscher replica rear spoiler (I do repair and restore for a living anyway) order a new boot carpet remove the spray tint from the rear lights (Not really my cup of tea)
Beyond that I'll be boooking the snowflakes in to be refurbed then the car will be fully detailed by myself
Just thought I'd drop in and update everyone on my plans
Kev
