    Default motorbike test

    Hey guys,

i've decided i'm old enough and sensible enough to be allowed a nice weekend toy so i fancy passing my motorbike test , question is do i have to retake my theory test (i have a full Driving licence since 2001) and do i have to take the 1 day CBT course to get me into the saddle of a small 125cc bike until i pass my full bike test and get myself something a bit more fun ? (fancy a Bandit)

also any suggestions on what small 125cc i could get for about 6 month s whilst i get my bearings on the road on a bike, i'd have about a grand to spend on this one but about £2500 on my 'proper' bike once passed full test

    cheers

I'm not a bike rider mate, but I think everyone has to carry out the CBT first. I'm not sure about the theory test though.

    Hi
You have to do a motorcycle theory test.
Id be pretty sharpish going in for the actual motorcycle test cos im sure the rules on bhp/cc restriction are going to be changed.I d also think long and hard what bike to buy when you eventually pass cos believe me youll want more power within 6 months.Obviously insurance is an issue but id be looking at something round the 750/800 cc mark.
Yep you do have to do the CBT by the way...but its more of a course than an actual test.I did a 4 day course which included everything (apart from the theory test) and i felt this was the best way to go.
Good luck. If you want any more info just ask.

For doing your test it has changed from my days, but there is something now about doing it on a 400+cc bike or you are restricted for a year. Might be better using the instructers bike and not buying a 125 ? or do an intensive course ..

Wish I was allowed another bike, the best fun you can have on wheels ...

Its all in this link mate....

As far as a 125cc goes I'd go for a trail/dirt style bike. For a novice they give better visibility, an uncramped riding position and are way easier to handle cos of the wide bars.

The Bandit is a spot on choice. Had 3 in my time (2 x 600 and a 12). £2.5k will get you a good un. It'll also buy you anything from a XR650R enduro single to a R6...insurance allowing.!!

cheers banie, tbh i've never rode a bike before so i was planning on doing the cbt on the instructors bike then buying a 125 for a 6 month or so period whilst i get used to it then upgrading to a high powered bike
