2.0dti tuning

i keep seeing posts that 'so and so' are crap, 'so and so' screwed up my remap...... the list goes on. what do i do with my dti? i tried remap science in bradfords and they couldnt access the ecu and never got back to me after taking my number. what do i do/where do i go for a box/remap that will give me results.
Seems some people have good reports about a particular tuner and others will slate them. I'M SO CONFUSED AAAAGGGGGHHHHH

decat mate makes a massive diffrence in the dti i had mine done and it was silly after that

unfortunately there's not many options for the 2.0dti, you are prob best off with a tuning box which will be hard wired & will see around 25bhp increase...

does it smoke ? how much more bhp will a de-cat give?

a tunning box , decat and a k&n filter with air box mod thats about it
i had a tunit uk box on both my 2.0dti and 2.2dti with great results from both but they are dear

100% on the de-cat. Had mine done too. Not louder that I've noticed, doesn't smoke anymore than it used to. Only a slight haze. I'm really not bothered about MOT time with it running so clean. Does smell a bit though when you walk round the back with the engine running.

Not sure on how much more power you get but the drive is smoother, comes on boost earlier too.

As long as your engine is a good runner and doesn't smoke so much that you can't see your car for all the smoke then you should sail through the MOT (as long as everything else is OK with the car).. diesels don't require a cat converter by law so decatting your car will not affect your MOT (there has been a lot of talk about this through a few threads recently, take a read around and you'll find a lot of things you could try and info on what will affect your cars roadworthyness etc.)

I don't particularly like remap science though (their rolling road is ok.. but that's about it IMO as I don't particularly trust them messing with my ECU.. they just don't seem to know all that much about different car ECUs, and I could have sworn they had a list of premade maps for different engines on the laptop they use which is.. need I say? (but maybe they were something else.. IDK)).. just had my car remapped by Paul from VTune in leeds. Had some experience with Paul with my old 2.2dti.. unfortunately he couldn't remap it (which will be for the same reason as remap science couldn't find your ECU.. some of the ECUs on the DTI are linked in directly with the injectors and so the injection rate can't be controlled with a remap (or something) meaning a map can't be done successfully) but said a tuning box was available for it.. so tuning boxes do exist (as mentioned a few posts above) but I never bothered with it because they were a lot more expensive than most remaps..

I got a full flow exhaust system and decat fitted for my car which made the engine a little more responsive.. but TBH.. I'd just do what I eventually did and buy a 1.9 haha
