Default vectra cdti sri fuel filter change????

I tried to change the fuel filter on the weekend but didnt get very far, i can get the fuel lines off easy enough and i have a haynes manual too but i can not get it out of the canister????? the manual says to get a screw driver and put it down the back on the right hand side to release but i cant see where it is to release it, i knoiw some people say to get new clips has these sometimes break but i need to know where exactly you need to put the screw driver and what you need to do to get it out please as the pic in the book is not that clear??
    many thanks

I don,t take the fuel filter canister out of the carrier, just take the bolt out of the middle of the fuel filter lid. Be careful when replace the lid as not to dislogde the new rubber seal, it p****s diesel out everywhere, when it starts....

maybe im not looking hard enough but i didnt see the bolt in the middle, i know it twists off so is there a bolt too then?? also i wanted to drain it to get rid of any water content and i know the screw for that is on the bottom, did you get to yours ok?? have the car and spanner light up so hoping this may be the reason before the egr and boost valve

In the centre of the lid there is a "Torx" head bolt, unscrew this and lift off the lid gently, it is easier if you remove the fuel lines. Replace the filter and rubber seal and clean out the lower fuel canister bowl. Bolt down the lid without over tightening, and begin to start the engine in 10 sec. bursts this will avoid burning out the starter motor. It should begin to start after the 3 > 4 attempt, and dont forget to reconnect the wire/connecter for the fuel heater in the lid or the car/spanner light will come on....

is the torx head bolt next to the connector on top for the fuel heater??? as my lid has the grooves on the outside which apparently you need a tool for to unscrew it but you can make something similar.

My friend as the 1.9cdti 150, is a 55 reg. is car/spanner light was on at the instrument panel, this was because the wire/connector was not connected at the fuel filter. The wire had fallen down the bulkhead in the engine compartment on top of the steering reservoir/pump. Mines a 3.0L cdti V6 i think there the same the fuel filters or very similar, check this wire/connector firstly.....

I thought the 1.9 was completely different? Don't they use a special fuel filter?

sorry.... i know the fuel heater wires are connected as i took them out and put them back in on my first attempt, maybe i will try to make a tool to unscrew the lid and change it that way without taking the canister out.
