    Default fiat punto help needed

    HI Guys/Gals,

a non vec question , the missus has a 2000 (v) punto elx and i think her aftermarket cd player is draining the battery - anyway i want to pull the fuse on it for a week or so to see if the battery stops losing charge (its not the battery i've tried 3 seperate ones) problem is i cant find a fuse diagram anywhere and we've lost the handbook , anyone got any ideas where it might be located ??

    thanks

Are you sure it's the Headunit draining the battery mate?

At the rick of teaching you to suck eggs - Have you checked what voltage the alternator is giving out as this keeps the battery re-charged once the engine has started?

to tell you the truth AJA i wouldnt know where to start , i'm just working off the fact that the problems all began when we got the new stereo installed so i just want to eliminate that before going into more depth.

Have you got breakdown cover? Put the dodgy battery back on and call them out. They'll check the alternator for you matey.

Yeah tried that m8, we only have home start or somthing that we get free with our bank, anyhoo the aa man said he couldnt find what was wrong so all he could do was replace the battery (couldnt look indepth due to our cheapo cover), basically were getting fed up of having to charge the battery all the time so i've decided to make an effort in solving the problem as cheaply as i possibly can lol

Checkout the courtesy lights as well, the boot one and under bonnet are favs for draining batteries if you have them fitted, just in case.

Nice one VV, I'd forgotten about them.

Actually, has any member that lives near Steve got breakdown cover for themselves rather than just their car that could pop round and help Steve out???

As per my wifes 54 reg punto, the fuses you need to look for are on the dashboard by the drivers right knee behind the panel.

Looking at it, it should be the second from left on the bottom row and third from left on the top row. Locations are shown as F39 and F49 respectively, F39 being 10a and F49 being a 7.5a.

    Hope that helps.
