    Default hmmm catalyst converter

I’m looking forward to remove the catalyst converter from my 2.2 vectra

Do you think it will work or I will have some problems?
    Any idea ?

theres alot of mixed reactions on this subject from what ive seen (work in a local dealers) it does seam to help the exhaust flow alot better, but one car we had in that removed the cat had the light come up on the dash, it might have been just an isolated thing though

it will also fail the CAT test when it comes to MOT time. if it ain't there it won't work.

It's also in the big can behind the exhaust manifold, so to remove it will involve cutting and welding the box. you can't just pop a pipe in.

it's also against construction and use regs as they now require all cars to be fitted with a Cat.

    what will you gain..little.

    Just probs for the future

its part of the manifold on the later 2.2 engine also the man light will be on constantly due to there being two o2 sensors one before and one after to check the cat is there and working .;..........

I'm guessing that any performance improvement made by removing the catalytic converter would be outweighed by having the engine run in limp-home mode. As benny said, the post-cat oxygen sensor will detect that the cat's not doing it's job.

not really, it's a floating variable of the lambda measurement, so you can't 'fix' it at any one reading.

more power?? air filter, exhaust, iriduim plugs, Performance cams, Cylinder head work, Re-map, Supercharger?

Have a look at www.courtneaysport.co.uk for ideas
