rolleyes 2.0T Expensive day / exhaust brackets

I took My Car (2.0T) in to get my new MTEC drilled / grooved brake discs fitted today and it turned out to be rather expensive. The Brake discs went on fine and look good but whilst the car was up on the lift I took the oportunity to have a sniff round underneath as the MOT is due next Month. Both front Springs were broken ( a common problem I know but the first time in 3 years I have had a problem with them ) so this cost me an extra £200 ( Eibach springs so should be OK - I Hope) and alot of waiting time as they had to get some delivered. I went for another sniff under the car whilst they were doing the springs and found the brackets broken both at the front and rear of the exhaust , the hangers etc are fine just the rods that are meant to be welded to the exhaust have rotted. The exhaust itself is still in good shape.Does anyone know if replacement repair brackets are available i.e something that clamps round the exhaust pipe with brackets to fit into the hangers or is it best to get some new brackets welded to the original pipe??

I did ask for a quote for the 2 new sections ( I was at an F1 autocenter ) who said they would struggle to get hold of them as they were dealer only parts. Im sure some one must sell them - anyone have any ideas wher I could get this priced up? The 2 sections fit from the cat to the backboxes , the first section has a flexi section and the second section has the split for the 2 backboxes.

Any advice as always much appreciated

    Cheers

    Neil

if they cant get the exhaust parts prepare to be bent over by vauxhall

aftermarket custom exhaust place is your best bet.

get the replacement section(s) made up in stainless at a lot less than vauxh prices

Get an exhaust clamp and get a bit of 'bar' welded to it so you have a new hanger.

Mine has done the same and hoping to do the same so will take some pictures.

I just bent some bar and got them tacked on, passed without a problem. It got me through the MOT till I decided what I was going to do.

    Default Sorted

I have got the exhaust sorted , went to a local exhaust place after a couple of chains couldnt be less interested in helping me , we cant find the exhaust and dont do welding ect. They used as lee GSI suggested some u-clamps with new bars welded to them and did a really good job and all they wanted was a drink so gave him £30 and he was happy.

Strange setup though , I had to drive in and reverse out of the place under 2 other cars that were up on ramps to get to the one used for mine. literally a few cm space above the car and to the sides so arse was a bit twitchy!!

I have decided to become a full member now , what do I need to do for this?

    Cheers

    Neil
