    Default smoky 1.9cdti particulate filter?

I have had a box on mine since jan 06 (cr1 then powerclick green) they both worked ok apart from bringing on warning light with cr1 hence change to poweerclick which seemed ok on standard setting but in the last minth or so the smoking has got a lot worse to the point that if i boot it now it puts out a smoke field behind me
I turned it down below standard(12oclock position) and it brought warning light back on,and still smoked with box off it does not smoke,Andrew at dtuk doesn't know what it could be, I tried box on another cdti today and its smoking was nowhere near as bad
Is the particulate filter self cleaning ? if not has anyone replaced one?
anyone else had a problem with very bad smoke after running a box for a while?
mine is 1.9cdti 150 05 spec full can bus

Did the hatchback pre-facelift come with a particle filter? A particle filter is to stop the smoking isn't it?

I think they have Ian, but there's are the 3.0 V6 CDTi. This is the first 1.9 I've heard of that's smoking excessively.

    Simple advice..

    Take the box off....

While it's generating too much smoke you'll be attracting the attention of the boys in blue.. They will stop you for excessive smoking it's it's bad enough to obsure vision of other drivers.

Leave the box off for a couple of weeks and see if the excess smoke dies back. If it doesn't then there is somthing amiss, and take it to a dealer to get them to have a look..don't forget to remove the common rail harness.

When I take box off it stops smoking(well as much as a diesel can) and looks like standard amounts of smoke , ran with it off for a week as soon as box went back it started to smoke again, yet the box does not cause other cars to smoke when I fitted it to them so it must be something on my car

Only problem with leaving it off is that I am used to the power/torque as it is now when the box is off it feels quite flat in the mid-range
