    Default 1st MOT due soon

    Hi everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice.

The car is due it's 1st MOT shortly.

    Do I......

    1) Take it to the Dealer (ie Arnold Clark / Peters Vauxhall etc)

    or

    2) Take it to a small local mechanic and MOT station i've used before for previous cars.

    Your advice is appreciated.

Several things you should be advised of:

    1) NEVER take it to Arnold Shark unless ABSOLUTELY necessary (i.e. warranty work that must be done where you bought it).

    2) There's nothing about an MOT on a Vectra that means a Vauxhall garage can do it better than anyone else.

    3) Whichever make of car you have, if you know of a garage that does the MOT properly and doesn't fail it unnecessarilly just to generate repair business for themselves, then stick to them year after year, regardless of whether it's a Vauxhall dealer, Porsche dealer or tiny back street operation.

    That was my thinking.

I wasn't sure about the main dealers though, as if there were any "issues" it should/would still be covered by it's original 3yr warranty. ???

Shouldn't matter, if it fails on something covered under warrenty simply take it to the dealer

the advice i always give is to go to someone friendly, who dont mind you watching and that preferably i an mot station only(no job in it for them if they fail it), before i started work at pomphreys we used to go to this little place in rainham which was great, always helpful, explained any advisarys or failures properly, looked after the car nicely etc and they were always busy
