Default Insomnia - do you suffer from it?

How many of you suffer from this?

I personally go through bouts of where it will last anything from 3 nights upto 2 weeks where its the same old routine. Go to bed toss and turn for a couple of hours say f**k it get out of bed and potter round the house till about 5am then go to bed to get up for 6am. Ok for a night or two but after 4 or 5 days I'm cranky as hell after a week just keep out of my way

Have any of you found a cure or something that helps? I've suffered with it for years and I'm on my 5th night of very little sleep

I've pretty much tried the lot but always hoping for something new that might help!

    I've tried..
    Changing the bedroom round
    Buying new bed
    Bath before bed
    Nytol
    Sex always a good excuse
    Alcohol
    Natural sleep Aids
    Relaxation CDs
    Oils

Speak to the doc and she just says "Ah you do look tired but I can't prescribe anything because its adidictive and it won't help in the long run"....twenty odd years of suffering from it a little pill now and again to break the spell would work wonders love

Try a concrete pillow. As soon as your head hits it, you'll be out like a light.

I have never been a great sleeper since my late 20's and some nights I am lucky to get 1>2 hours most nights, I get tired about 10pm lights out before 11pm awake around 3>5am.

I get a prescription for Zimovane a sleeping tablet and half of one of these and I get my full 8 hours!!!!

I hate it as it is mainly stress driven with me.

I know its gonna sound a bit hippy BUT have you thought of trying accupuncture?..specifically ear accupuncture.

I used to provide this for 'addicted' people and the results were allways impressive.

    Try accupressure as well.

    Fully agree with the above.

My dad was a full time yoga instructor and from when we were kids he taught meditation and accupressure (helped with my martial arts training and competitions (nerves before the fight)).

Anyways, I always struggled to sleep when I was young and learning meditation skills with accupressure helped me 100%.

No problems sleeping now at all

Oh and when I was younger I suffered with ADHD really bad, still do a bit

I have it, drives me crazy. Had it about 7 years now. been to the doctors a fair few times about it, but twice in the last year and got the same answer as the_wave_rider about sleeping pills "there addictive and wont help in the long run". Then went on to say "it will sort it self out in the long run" :@ yea mate iv had it 7 years now and it hasnt got any better, so basicly the doctors wont do anything. I recived a self help booklet threw the post from hospital that says " 30% of the adult population suffer with sleep problems and roughly half the elderly suffer from insomnia. Therefore to have a sleep problem at some point in your life is quiet normal". I wish i felt normal about sleeping lol only time i get a good sleep is after a few drinks or some tramadol.
