    Default Plugs are so tight !!!

    Went to check the plugs today and OMG how tight some knob must of cranked them right down, Only tryed 2 and gave up scared to put real pressure on them in case the snap, Now would you do it with the engine hot or cold and has anybody got any tips ?

    engine warmed up, pre soak with wd40 the night before

    get it nice and warm to the point the fan cuts in etc, and as dh.dti said soak with wd but once youve cracked them loose let it cool for a while cos you dont wanna be burning yourself on the red hot engine or plugs, trust me it hurts, and make sure the engine its cold before refitting the plugs otherwise you will be in the same boat next time

    Id also be very careful not to strip the thread, when you manage to get the plug out make sure its not stripped or cross threaded, cross threaded plugs would cause it to be tight, also before removing the plugs have a look down the spark plug holes, last thing you want is grotty water n rott getting down into the cylinders

    Get a strong bar on them or as we used to do the air gun.!!

    They have to come out & they probably have been in from new, so your lucky with a alloy head the cast iron heads were a pig.

    Remember they make a plug tap if you need it but you probably won't and some copper slip on the threads will be fine.
