Drinky was telling me about a clear plastic film that you can apply (better to get it done by a pro though) to the front of your car to protect against stone chips. Don't know any details though.

How come it seems the guys with darker cars seem to get more stone chips? Is the darker paint softer or summin' ? I've had mine nearly four years (star silver) and have only got one small chip on me bonnet.

The darker paint could well be softer. I know when I had my Leon, the guys with Imperial Blue cars had horrendous problems with stone chips as that particular paint was a lot softer than the rest.

    'cos we drive faster!

Could well be that (some) darker paints are softer, but it's also probably a visual thing. A small chip is going to show up on a darker car much more than a silver car. You may well have more little chips there than you realise, you just haven't really seen them?

Looking forward to seeing the fresh front-end Mark. Made a big difference to mine when I got the bonnet and other wing done after my little accident!

It looks like I'll be going for another respray of the front bumper, splitter and bonnet after the winter, so this is looking favourite after that. Cheers Chris.

Looks like a good bit kit, stones chips are a pain in the ***....

Wouldnt it be good if your car was sparyed with a rough colour primer to what your car is.....might save on some bucks on the long run....
