    Eek Clutch slipping

    Hi again,
first of all thanks to everyone that helped with the heater problem its is fixed and working a treat
But my car has decided it doesnt want to play ball yet again. :-S Its a 2L Dti 03 (on a 52 plate).
Was driving back from base over the weekend and noticed that when accelerating the engine would rev high when i put my foot down, then drop back down before picking up power so had to drive like my nan.
I was wundering if anyone knows:
    *What the problem is
*What parts i need to get and the best place for them (might be cheaper for me to source)
*how much to fix (parts and labour)
I know this sounds kind of naff but i have spoken to a few garages and had real vareing answers from them. the price just for parts has been from £250 to over £500. Then one said it might be the dueal master fly wheel (?) and ill be lucky to much change from £1000.
Any help on this would be great as in stuck for the best option to take at the mo.
    Thanks again

you can rule out the clutch slipping, not sure what it is though.

ok now i am stumper :-s but cheers Nokiaman1978, as its just saved me a load of cash. just got to find out what it could be now?
    Any one got any ideas?
not sure if it is related but at this point i would put down if the tyre pressures were low if i thought it might be linked. but usually when its cold or just started running the engine makes a strange loud noise AT 2500 revs? not sure if this is linked but thought might as well try.

I had a similar prob on my GSi but only when I booted it the revs would jump and then drop back down. Cost me the best part of 1200 quid at the local garage after having a new clutch and dmf.

only thing is that i would have expected the revs to rise when shifting from 3 - 5 at 20 mph but he said i slowly built up speed, meaning the cluch in my mind isnt slipping.
