    just had mine done with genuine vx parts by my local vx trained tech £289 inc vat

    would say it's very expensive, but if from a main dealer sounds about whaT i'd expect from them
    full kit (including pulleys) = 120
    water pump = 60?

    so they are charging 300 quid labour..... ouch

    water pump on trade club £34

    cambelt kit on trade club £81

    ouch !!! doing mine at the weekend for just the parts cost

    cam belt kit & water pump should be around the £250 mark all in bud

    Should be around £300 inc vat with an independent mechanic, with decent parts. Just shop around and you will get a better price. Mine came to £315 inc repair to a slow puncture.

    Breaks down as:

    Renew timing belt 3 hrs @ £47.50/hr - £142.50+VAT
    Renew Water pump 1 hr @ £47.50/hr - £47.50+VAT

    Timing Belt kit - £99.50+VAT
    Waterpump - £64.50+VAT
    Coolant - £15.76+VAT
    Loctite - £1.50+VAT
    "Consumable Material" - £2.50+VAT
    Waste Disposal - £1+VAT

    Total £449.71inc VAT

    So they're charging you retail prices on the parts, when they don't buy them at that price and even you can get them at Trade Club prices. IMHO they're trying to fleece you, so why reward them with your custom?
