Default Does an Astra-H have Isofix ?

Folks, as some of you are aware, im looking at buying an Astra-H for the misses.

What I would like to know is, does this car have Isofix?

Also, what exactly DOES THIS MEAN and whats exactly DOES THIS DO?

We have a young son so ANY extra safety features will be extremely useful and re-assuring.

The particular model I have in mind is a 1.6 Breeze on a 2005/05.

    Thanks.

I believe it was standard on the astra H but could be wrong esy way to check is look for a metal U shaped ring between back seat and lower seat, It should be sticking out a bit

My 2002 Vectra has ISO-FIX so I would have thought the Astra would.

On the NCAP website they tested a 'Britax Roemer Baby-safe (rearward facing)' and a 'Britax Roemer Duo Plus( forward facing)' which are both ISO-FIX.

    http://www.euroncap.com/tests/opel_v..._2004/185.aspx

The ISO-FIX fixings are easy to find. its two metal bars just behind the seat. The ISO-FIX base then connects to these bars. it basically makes the car seat become part of the vehicles chassis rather than relying on the seat belt.

ISO fix is really handy when you have to remove the seat on a daily basis i.e. a young baby in a carry seat as there is usually a quick release button that allows you to press and lift the seat off the base (which stays in place). Hell of alot better than having to faff with the seat belt.

When the child goes into a forward facing seat its still nice to have an ISO-FIX due to it being part of the chassis but not essential as you wont be taking the car seat in and out as you would a carry seat.

Found this pic that may explain it better! no.3 is the ISO-FIX bar.

Note that the INSERTION GUIDE isn't always needed.

Here are examples of a carry seat using ISO-FIX

Here is a forwarding facing with ISO-FIX. This is similar to what my 8 month old is in. Usually you don't put them in a forward facing until 9 month or 20kg (or 22kg - cant remember) but my little girl isn't so little and went over the 20kg early!!

I'm not sure what the strap behind the seat is about in the above pic. Mine doesnt have that.

Britax is a good make and a good price. The top of the range stuff is usually Maxi-Cosi.

    Hope this helps!

Isn't that hook meant to hook into the eyelet in the boot?
