Default Car in for Repair after Accident

Had someone smack into me while i was stationary at lights, bumper scratched and cracked. Gave car in today to repair shop which was recommended by insurance company.

    Two questions.

    1. They will probably put new bumper on due to crack and scratches, I had a car in Asda car park scrap my car on top of the wheel arch and aswell as the bumper. Now will the mechanic also spray/repair wheel arch even though it was not part of accident claim? I've heard that they have to match the bumper to the colour and should at least spray if nor repair?

    2. I had a veccy 1.9cdti 150bhp and I was given a Astra 1.4 (Cant pull a oily stick out of a pigs arse) car, which is too small for my needs, I have special need requirements. Can I get a bigger car, The repairer is not involved I was told to go to Enterprise car hire for vehicle.

    Many thanks

you should have blagged a bigger car by saying you needed it for the size of your family or summat , as for the repair i'd say some would sort the lot so it matches and others may leave it

You can hire any car and submit the receipt to the insurance company
They only pay up to a specific amount
If you need a larger vehicle than this should have been specified at the time of hire, most hire companies will provide you with what they have at the time, then return later with another vehicle

the quarter panel wont get repaired as its not part of the accident, unless the damage on it prevents good fitment of the rear bumper! in my experiance, if they dont fix the qtr just complian to your insurance co, they will give you anything you want!!!

If it's a non fault claim you are entitled to like for like courtesy car as the 3rd party insurance pays for it.

its difficult to say, all claims are different, you could say the damage wasnt there before the accident, your not happy with the colour match & want the qtrs painted to match, as i say though they might repair it if it causes the bumper to fit poorly, & if they dont & the bumper isnt 100% perfect fit next to the damage then theres your ammo! youl figure somthing out mate

No they won't. They will pay for the damage to be repaired and no more.

You can't complain if the repairer puts right the damage caused by the accident. If this means they replace a bumper, then thats what gets replaced.

If they do the job right, they will match the colour correctly, but they may be a slight difference, in fact your original bumper will probably be a slight different colour as this is a common problem.

You can't expect a repairer to fix something that is not part of the accident damage.
