    Default advice need please

    hi all, just gone to ceck oil etc, took the filler cap off and noticed a lot of creamy gunk on it,

    now its not using oil or water, no over heating, no oil in the water res at all, but bit concerned now!

    anything else should check or clea maybe

    any help be appreciated

    My dad had this on his astra, was using it for short journeys only and condensation built up under the cap and mixed with the oil causing a creamy gunk. My brother bought the car and used it for longer journeys and drove it a bit harder and the gunk went

    which engine is it?, tbh its not uncommon the xep petrol enignes in corsas etc seem to suffer from it really bad, as said just condensation nout to wrry about just clean it off so it dont mix with the oil

    hi, the engines a 2.2, what said seems to match the previous owners he only used it for very short journeys to and from work,

    ill be clocking more miles up with work, so ill keep my eye on it

    I'd clean off the oil breather pipes then use an engine flush treatment followed by an oil and filter change. I wouldn't worry if there is no signs of losing oil or water.
