Default Newbe after advice, lots of advice!

    Hi guys

I have just joined as I'm hoping to join the Vectra driving club soon and was after some general buying advice.

I have about £3500 to £4000 to spend on an estate but were to put my money is getting really confusing. Clearly I will be looking at the newest car possible however, do I opt for a lower mileage pre facelift (2004 ish) or a higher mileage post facelift (2006 ish). If I do look at the higher mileage option what are the main things to look out for? Lastly any advice on the engine choice as in my price bracket there seems to be all 3 diesel choices?

Many thanks for any advice recieved.

    Stu

What will you be using the car for and how many miles will you cover a week?

As for the age, well it depends on what you prefer, does the preface look better to you than the facelift?

As for what to look out for, that will depend on the engine you are interested in buying, do not be put you off but the 1.9 CDTi (150) Engine, it seems to have more issues than its (120) counterpart, but if these faults are fixed before buying it is not an issue.

Maybe do a bit of reading around here and see what the common faults are. But it really does depend on what you want the car to do in the long run.

In march 06 they changed the front end, you can tell by the angled headlights on the facelift model, this is all that changed.

(Well changing the lights included new bonnet, wings, grilles etc)

    I have the facelift
But the pre looks just as nice to me and with a few simple and fairly cheap mods the pre looks really nice.
With your budget I would go pre-facelift with low miliage. It should get you something rather nice.
Not keen on diesel, so can not comment.
