    Default Z30DT 3.0 V6 cdti with P0301 advice please

Hi Guys hope I can explain this one.

Wife said she has been strugling with the car having little power and occasionally the car and spanner light has come on over the last week.
When the ignition is turned off and back on the cars back to normal.

I was a little sceptical but it happened to me last saturday.
It goes like this. Travelled 20 miles from open road to town and then open road. Pulled up and parked then left the engine running for a few minutes.
All OK until after 1 or 2 minutes the car and spanner light came on and the tickover became not erratic but lumpy and increasing and decreasing from tickover to 1000 rpm.
Reving the engine seemed to be OK but I didnt attempt to drive or put load on. The missus said that the power is poor and hesitant IE limp mode.

When I turned the ignition off and then back on the car started fine and ran fine and was back to normal.

I had it into my mate who TECH2 ed it today. Codes were p0301 and another which I cannot remember but will ask him about but think it was poor fuel pressure.

He has read up on the Vauxhall tech pages and they are advising that the 2 codes together mean the solenoids in the fuel pump which I have read on here about.

Other than that his first thought or suggestion from Vauxhall technical was a software update. That has now been dismissed due to the fact that these two codes have appeared together.

Any thoughts please!? I would rather try the software but he assures me its gonna be a £700 touch

    Any help much appreciated

By the way DPF is at 0% as of today because he checked it and was going to force a regen but it wouldnt let him as its perfectly OK

Sounds like the scv's Although that code you have put up is for a misfire on cylinder number one.

As Big Sig said P0301 suggest there's a misfire on cylinder number 1. Ask your mate to check fuel flow on injectors. I think you can do that on the Z30DT.

These are the signs of a sensor at the end of its life
The engine going into safe mode, and this is makes it much easier to diagnose (but not always correctly)
I'll put my money on the crankshaft sensor, and this is causing the misfire
If it is indeed the crankshaft sensor, then replace the camshaft sensor at the same time

I had poor pressure when the fuel filter was blocked. I would start by replacing that first

Thanks Celes, thats interesting as the cars an 06 plate I have started doing the servicing using genuine items may I add.
Last year my mate at the stealer told me the fuel filter would not need doing. Cars done 39000 by the way.

Will get one and do it this weekend. Certainly cheaper than the SCV's!!

    Whats the service history like?
As a 2006, it will probably be on standard servicing 20K miles / 1 year
    Follow this STRICTLY
Ensure the Fuel Filter is replaced at 10K miles or 1 year, a bit of an oversight by VX

History is spot on M8 cos Ive had it from six months old. Was done by the book till last service which I did and only because it was an interim not a biggy. The fuel filter is interesting though and will be done.

Update on the codes from my mate. The other code wasnt low fuel pressure but low fuel level p04 or p14 something.
Apparently these two codes together mean SCV's beyond doubt, but thats why Im asking here aswell.

Faulty SCV's give P0093 which has something to do with rail pressure.

My fuel filter is now 12k old and the car is starting to judder slightly around 1500rpm, not to mention the grey smoke which I suspect has to do with contaminated diesel (AGAIN! )
