Manifold change poll: Actuator change or not

Intake manifold change

Actuator change yes or no.

Im a little harassed and confused.

LMF have said that he has contacted a main dealer. This main dealer have done 17 manifold changes in the last 12 mths and not changed an actuator.

AutoVaux recommend changing the actuator and so do other members on here as it is a lot of work if the actuator then goes later and is a total rebuild again.

Some say the actuator on a failed manifold is limiting in its movement and self learns to the actual range of the manifold it is attached to.

Some say, quite a few on here, they have changed their manifold without changing the actuator and has all been fine.

Im at that crossroads right now, and in the next few days my cars manifold will be done with or without an actuator change..

The result of the poll before it even starts - majority on here will say change the actuator no doubt. Some say it must to be changed, I don't know if that's the truth.
Your decision at the end of the day. A bit like the old "do I change waterpump while the timing belt is off".

ok, then maybe you already have the answer from the majority, and yes im doing my waterpump when my cambelt is off too, to avoid revisiting the job again.

Not changed one in the 8 or so cars that I have done and they have not had any problems.

VX did mine and never changed it. No problems whilst I had.

Why have they modified the new actuater, to go with the new modified manifold.
The swirl flaps are in a slightly different position for a start, so the motor has a different range.
The benefit of fitting a new acuater is that you now you are getting the corect swirl, at the corect time. Especially at low RPM.

Just changed my intake manifold. Actuator works like it did before. I suspect VX want loada cash to change my Actuator,

Mopar man what is the part number for the new actuator and who told you there was a updated one as my dealers are telling me it was just the manifold that was updated (And issued a new part number)

Result.

Got my car back.

Have the old actuator in my hand.

The motor range still moves in its full range left to right by hand.

May have been reusable, but with Mopar Man suggesting possible revised actuator and also the fact pierburg bang on about the actuator re-learning or whatever, I spent the cash on the actuator whilst it was all apart. That was my decision alone.

Poss that the actuator can be reused, each to their own and own decision at the time it comes. Also I am aware Vx dealerships do not all change the actuator themselves when doing the inlet manifold replacement.
