I have the HTC HD7, and its a good phone, but I toyed with the Desire HD too before deciding to give windows a try. My daughter has just taken out a contract and got the desire HD and after playing with the desire, I wish I'd gone for that one now.
Looks like it may be a Desire or the Nexus then.. I'm off to gadget show live on the 12th April so may just wait until then and have a look at a few phones there
Android will become the betamax of the Phone world. iPhone 5 is out in the summer.
I do like the iphone, BUT can't be doing with the fact that you pay a lot of money for the phones only to then have apple dicate what apps you can or can't have on it. Not interested in the new iphone 5 unless it comes "jailbroken" as standard which it will never be as apple are raking in too much cash by making iphione users buy all apps from them.
I'm going the android route
Couldnt agree more with you. The iPhone would be half decent if it came jailbroken and you could do everythign with it that you should be able to. They are ridiculously expensive for what they are too. As for Android being the betamax of phones, I cant really see Google letting that happen myself! Symbian already holds that honour anyway.
Why dont you just jailbreak it? Its easy enough. There is now an unteahtered jailbreak for IOS 4.2.1. There is no carrier unlock for it yet but that doesnt matter for you at the moment as you arent planning on putting another carriers sim in yet.
If you do pay off your contract and get another phone I have a really good bit of advise before you do it...
Most people think you have to Jailbreak a phone to unlock it but if the iphone is yours and in contract you can ask your Carrier to unlock it. 02 do it for free but Orange and Three charge £15. The benefit of this is that it adds a hell of alot of value to the phone when you go to sell it on ebay. A locked 3GS 16GB is worth around £200 on eBay. A factory unlocked on is worth £280-£320 depending on age and condition.
Given the number of recent security alerts about dodgy apps available on Android's Marketplace, Apple's walled garden suddenly doesn't seem so bad.
Yeah agree with that as Symbian is dead already due to Nokia going the Windows Mobile 7 route..
Amazon are going to start doing Android Apps soon, they have to be certified so that will do away with any threat of virus etc. Im still not going to get another Apple product..
and security threats are still present on Jailbroken iphones..
can't really compare a jailbroken iPhone since by nature its already hacked!
Hope you enjoy whatever 'droid phone you decide to get
