Folks,
Just been to see another Astra and checked the MOT's on the car, this was an advisory at the last one, what exactly does this mean?
Offside Steering system has slight free play detected at steering wheel (2.2.A.1b).
Thanks.

At a guess, it means that when you jiggle the steering wheel, the driver's side wheel doesn't move as quickly as it should, i.e. there's some slack in the suspension. Probably caused by a worn bush, maybe the track rod end.
Weird, I'd have thought they would have stated Track Rod....? Could be just tracking out?
There won't be an advisory type for all components, it will be a blanket description.
As above, I would say the track-rod end.
As Dan said, they often tell you the symptom rather than put their money where their mouth is and tell you the cause.
Yip I reckon either the track control arm or rod end has play, the wife's last Golf had the same and it was the track control arm balljoint.
tracking being out wouldnt cause it either, everything would still be tight. if you lie under the car and get someone to turn the wheel all the way out then rock the steering back and forth, not much and look for play, it should be visible
