Air Conditioning

Hey guys!

Had my air con re-gassed this morning. It's never worked since I got the car, and I must say, it's ice cold now, ready for the summer

However, if I turn off the car with the air con on, when I re-start it, the blower motor takes 5-10 seconds to start spinning (all speeds). But if I turn the air con off before turning the car off, the blower motor starts spinning the moment I turn on the ignition (all speeds)

Car's not got climate contorl, just standard air con. 52 reg 2.2 DTi SRi model.

The guy at Kwik Fit says this is how it's meant to be, but I never trust Kwick Fit, and only went there due to the price (£29 for re-gas)!


Does anyone elses do this?

All Kwik Fit's are doing it at that price now AFAIK

the reason it takes 5 - 10 secs for the fan to work is because it wont let them come on until the evaporator ( A/C coil in the car ) reaches its temperature so you dont have warm air blowing in your face. Its perfectly normal for this, my car does it to.

just phoned my local kwik fit today as my Vectra air conditioning does ****** all, and was told its £49.99 for a re-gas and £20 for a debug

Your best bet is to justt call in at a few places you see with aircon serving & see what they will do for a cash job... i found a place who did mine for £40 cash

Yes they spray anti bacterial stuff down the vents and change the pollen filter, usually done when your air con is smelling. i've done it myself before, bought a tin of aircon cleaner from unipart for about £5 and sprayed it down the vents
