Default Signum with telephone loom - install Parrot?

    Hi,
I just bought a Signum - it was fitted with an old Nokia 6310i handsfree cradle. I've ripped it out as I plan to install a Parrot MK3100.

The Signum already has a factory-fitted handsfree loom with an 18-way VDA(?) plug on the end and I believe I can just purchase an adapter cable that will allow me to connect the Parrot kit without removing the radio (albeit a little late as I've already knackered the CCR 2006 trying to get it out so now I've got a CDR 2005 currently stuck in SAFE mde but that's another story.)

My question is has anyone fitted a Signum or Vectra with a Parrot kit via this pre-installed loom and if so, what cable adapter do I order and from where?

Also, anyone know a reliable source that won't cost the earth for giving me the code for the radio that I bought?

    Any help appreciated.

    Daran.

Do you mean Parrot CK3100? I have just fitted one via the VDA connector in my car - read my post here.

Parrot kits usually use an ISO connector and the SOT-109 cable converts the VDA connector to an ISO connector. You do end up with quite a lot of wiring, but it can be put inbetween the heater fan and the back of the glovebox or to the sides of the heater fan.

The other alternative is to find a website that sells a custom cable that connects the Parrot blue box straight to the VDA connector. This would mean less wiring (you don't use the loom that comes with the Parrot) but is probably more costly.

That's brilliant thanks James24! Can you tell me where you got the SOT cable and the exact part number?

I just wish I knew all of this before I broke my original radio trying to get it out! - I only realised that the VDA cable was usable from reading these forums while trying to fix the radio...
    So far I've had;
    1. original radio with old Nokia car kit
    2. working Parrot via SOT-078 cable into back of original radio and broken radio in process.
    3. Dead Parrot (no pun intended) and dead radio
    4. Dead Parrot and new CDR 2005 radio stuck in SAFE mode.

Hopefully your info will at least get the Parrot working again.

    thanks
    Daran.

My Siggy Elite has the CD70 unit and it has the telephone style numeric keypad on the right, is this likely to have the same wiring to give me the same options? I quite fancy a proper phone carkit.

@parttimer1 No the VDA plug was removed at some point, you might have it striped up, but its not certain

As above, the part number is 'SOT-109' so just search for this and choose a supplier that looks reputable and is selling it for a good price. The company I got mine from was good, but appears to have stopped selling via eBay and their corporate website is for companies rather than individuals.

I went from a Nokia CARK91 to a Parrot CK3100 both via the VDA connector, so any queries around this let me know. The added complication I had was that whoever fitted the Nokia car kit cut the cables right out of the back of the VDA connector (I don't think you could get any adaptors for it at the time, but they could have left a bit of cable to join them back up again ) and so I had to get that replaced first.

I didn't have any problems with my stereo though, so I can't help there.

One thing to note for those wanting to use the VDA connector (if they have checked and their car has one) is that it only supports one channel of audio so it's fine for a phone (as it was intended) but it's not going to be much good for music streaming which is done via all 4 channels and so for which you will need the 'usual' 3-way cable (there a several different ones for the Vectra due to the range of stereos fitted) that fits into the connector blocks on the back of the stereo itself.

    thanks everyone... new problem now...

ordered the SOT-109 yesterday and it arrived this morning!

Parrot now works but I am not getting any sound out of the car speakers... could this be because I haven't got the radio installed at the moment - i.e. does it depend on having the radio in before I will hear anything.

I want to resolve this before I re-install the radio as it was a pig to get out (actually broke the original doing so, so have a replacement that I haven't managed to CODE correctly yet... hence I only want to put it back in once!)

    All help appreciated.

Parrot audio should be fine without a radio plugged in
