    Default I have a CC problem ..

I hope this is in the right place, I couldn't decide between it being an engine or electrical problem !

I'm having a problem with the CC, it sometimes takes maybe 5 or 6 presses of the button on the stalk to switch it on.

Also, once the CC is on, if I press the button to accelerate it switches the CC off altogether instead of going faster. This happens both if I tap the button or press and hold it.

I am suspecting that it's the switch in the stalk and that it probably needs a new one, has anyone changed a stalk on the C before or had a similar problem ?

    TIA

    Si

I had this exact problem last winter. and posted this exact same thread...

Booked it in for warranty work but VX cancelled before I took it in. When the weather warmed up the problem went gone away. Not sure if this helps but I'm waiting till winter to see if it comes back again.

Funny that !, sometimes it seems it's fixed itself and comes on with the first press but still switches off when I press the button again to accelerate.

I haven't used it much lately so I was hoping the switch was just a bit sticky.

It's out of warranty now, who do you use ? I bought mine from Lookers on woodchurch road. Their service has been "hit and miss" TBH !

I use Lookers Heswall. Being a smaller dealer they're ok but they had problems sorting the old Astra out when the engine management light kept comming on. Besides I can walk home from there!

The parts guy there is good (stuart(?))

Lookers in general seam a little short of the mark. But round our area there aint much choice.

I agree, they always seem to be over streached and have made a couple of silly mistakes on my cars which may not have happened if they weren't rushing !

Like leaving industrial strength super glue on the back seat and putting the wipers back on the wrong way round

I have used Heswall parts, they seem pretty good.

Back to the CC, I think i'll live with it for a little while and see how it goes. I don't fancy paying their prices to have it sorted but then, I don't fancy changing the stalk myself either LOL!

I think the missus did mine...She could get the hang of the indicators and half pulled the stalk off turning left. She won't admit it though! I pushed it back in and thats when the fun started.

Ther are anumber of concerns with cruise control on Vectra, with most being caused by intermittent poor connections between the CIM and the turn signal lever. A revised, slotted stalk switch system for the lever/CIM was introduced in December '04.

It was also found that the problems could be caused by faulty micro switches in the lever, these were improved from Sept '05. Improved parts can be identified by the date stamp 345 (i.e. Week 34, Year 2005)

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the info James, I think it is probably the micro switches in the stalk. Everything else works ok.

I will have a go at changing it when I get a chance, I assume the new stalk would just plug in ? no need for a tech 2 or anything !?
