Question vec c 2.2 direct to vec c cdti 150am wondering about this one with the petrol prices going up and u

am wondering about this one with the petrol prices going up and up

    vec c 2.2 direct avg 30-32 mpg

    vec c 1.9 cdti 150 avg 50-52 mpg ?

if i was to trade my petrol for a deisel i would be looking about £2000 to change .

in your opinion is it worth spending that £2000 to gain 20mpg ?

depends on your annual mileage. A calculation can help you decide.

Based on 6000 miles and at best, 52mpg & 32 mpg

You will use 115.4 gallons per year of diesel or 187.5 gal of petrol.

    Diesel at £1.329 per L = £696.30
    Petrol at £1.279 per L = £1088.75

For 5-6k a year mileage I wouldn't bother changing to diesel.
Unlikely to average 52mpg in a cdti unless it's all motorway, most get around 47mpg combined.
I'd probably be thinking about best reliability with that sort of annual mileage - can't get much better than the 2.0T.

Plus you would need to get a 150 with all the common faults done, or outlay to have them fixed too, where as the 2.2 really does not have that many issues with the engine.

    Plus 52MPG is optimistic from a 150.
