    Default Painting a rear bumper

ive just purchased an sri rear bumper for my car but its in the wrong colour and has some scratches etc. im looking at trying to paint it myself, i know im not gonna get iy finished amazingly well but then that dont bother me too much as the rest of the car isnt much to shout about and i can always get it redone when money is in better supply. im just looking for some advise on what materials i need, how much and where to get it from. the car is silver lightning and i have got an air compressor and can get hold of a spray gun, ive only really sprayed some general metal work before but i was using a basic 2 pack paint i think it was lol

find a small back street garage would thing 80/100 would get it done if your not to fussy would think it will cost you about 50 quid in paint and materials if you have to buy it all

Mate, if you get the stuff ill do it with you if you want, but it is gonna need a lot of rubbing down, with 120 grit, maybe even some filling of the scratches are into the plastic. Then primmer, paint and lacquer. What price did you get if for?

Could try chips away, they may do it. Will be cheaper than a bodyshop, or there is a mobile guy just round the corner from me. I could give him a bell for you if you want?

firstly do not use 120 grit, that is too course a grit and will just cut into the bumper, 240/320 is much better to to initial prep and then went sand with around 600-800, then prime, then wet sand with 1000-1200 before painting

do not use chips away, the paints they use are terrible and very cheap and will look **** after a few months, same with all mobile type companies

you don't need to rub back to plastic, if you do then its going to leave you with alot more work than is needed and you'll need to buy proper plasticizor/adhesion promotor
