Red face Rear brake caliper bleed nipple

    Hi Guys,
I have just ruined the thread of the bleed nipple when doing the rear brakes on my 1.8 club, well I'm hoping its just the thread on the nipple and not the calliper. Does anyone know where I can get a nipple to check and if it is the calliper where a good place to get one from might be?
    Thanks, Tony

Yes you have another one on other wheel.... use that to see if its just the nipple but if you have the nipple off then you should see the thread on the nipple and know if its damaged.

Thanks. I had another look and the nipple thread seems fine but has metal inbetween the threads which I can only assume is the thread from the calliper

Do you know know where I could get e reconditioned calliper sent from? I have been looking online but recommended sellers are always preferred.
    Cheers

Could you get a slightly larger one and re-tap the caliper thread to fit it?

Sorry, not a nipple expert LOL.

Thanks for the link DasArab. I'll order those and see if there's enough of the existing thread in the calliper to use. Otherwise re-boring to another size, perhaps 11-12mm could be done if the thread in the calliper is shot. Thanks for the suggestion Graham.

Thanks for your help guys, I'll post later and let you know how I get on :-)

as said before the nipple is made from softer metal so should go first . run a 10mm tap up it then use new nipple it should be fine just dont over tighten it .

I have ordered new nipples but as half the thread is missing in the caliper I will try re-threading it first. Failing that a new (well, recon/secondhand) caliper it will have to be.

Also do you know where I can get the correct rewind adaptor? I have a 3/8 rewind tool and bought 2 adaptors but they don't fit. I have been looking online but cant find one listed for the Vectra, all the vauxhall ones listed seem to be for the Vectra B

The adaptor for the Vectra C is different from other Veccy and is the same as a SAAB 9-3 So just in case anyone else has as much trouble finding the correct tool as I did the correct adaptor is a Laser 3104 No.7. I got it from here. . .

But have seen it on ebay and other places.

    Hope this helps
